It is not uncommon to feel hesitant or unsure about seeking help and so first appointments are to explore your difficulties as well as your expectations of therapy and counselling.

 

The initial consultation will be for 50 minutes and is largely non-directive, and it is unlikely that I will ask you questions the whole time. At the end of this consultation I will discuss with you whether psychodynamic therapy or counselling is likely to be the most helpful treatment. Sometimes, this will not be the case and I may be able to suggest a different treatment or I may suggest that we meet again prior to making any decision about having therapy or counselling.

 

If it's decided that therapy or counselling is appropriate we will agree to a regular day and time on an ongoing basis. The fee for the initial session is £75 - £90, depending on location. Fees for the ongoing treatment are discussed at the initial consultation and I reserve a limited number of places for those on low incomes.
